Relay Coil driver

Hi,

Is there a simple way to drive a relay coil from a ÁChameleon ?
Do you have a schematic ?

Cheers,
Motorhead.

Re: Relay Coil driver

Hi Motorhead,

A single transistor will provide ample current to cleanly switch almost any relay coil, up to about 1 Amp. The schematic below shows a bipolar, but mosfets are fine too. R1 should be 100Ω for a bipolar, and can be removed if a mosfet is used. The diode protects the transistor from high voltage inductive kick-back spikes when switched off.

Cheers,
